When Life Happens: How to Stay Consistent Without Losing Momentum

Life happens — and sometimes it happens fast. For me, that’s looked like moving to Hawaii recently. New home, new rhythm, new routines… and honestly, it’s been amazing and challenging.

It’s easy to stay consistent when life feels predictable. But real health comes from learning to adapt when things aren’t. So today, I want to share three principles that have helped me stay consistent even when everything around me is changing.

🌴 1. Flexible Goals, Firm Habits

I’ve learned that when your environment changes, your goals can stay the same — as long as your habits are flexible.

For example, one of my goals is movement — three times a day for at least five minutes. Ideally, I’d love to do a full yoga class or an evening walk, but sometimes that’s just not possible. So instead, I do what I can. Five minutes of movement, a short bodyweight circuit, a walk around the block — it all counts.

And here’s the thing: those small choices add up. Over a week, that’s 21 sessions — or roughly three 45-minute workouts. The habit stays alive, even when the form changes.

🍲 2. Adapt the Plan, Keep the Intention

Food has been another adjustment. New grocery stores, new ingredients — and plenty of delicious local treats.

Instead of stressing about perfection, I focused on my intention: fueling my body well.
That means keeping an eye on portion sizes and aiming for my main nutrition goals — protein and fiber first.

When you know your ‘why,’ it’s much easier to be flexible with the ‘how.’ That mindset has made it possible to stay consistent and enjoy the journey.

💫 3. Redefine Success Daily

Some days success looks like a full yoga flow. Other days, it’s five mindful minutes of movement and a balanced meal.

My definition of health is feeling and looking good — not chasing perfection. It’s enjoying the foods I love and the connection they bring, moving my body in ways that feel good, and reducing stress wherever I can.”

In this weeks video, I’ll share my current simple daily goals — the ones that help me stay on track no matter where I am.

Because life will always happen. What matters most is building a lifestyle that moves with it.

Remember, it’s not about doing it perfectly — it’s about keeping the habit alive.
